'Floating' scaffold for renovation zinc gutter

During the period from early December to the end of January, the zinc gutters of the Family Aid building in Mechelen were taken care of. The gutters were worn out and in urgent need of replacement.

During the renovation, the wooden substructure was thoroughly inspected and replaced where necessary. The main challenge of the project lay in renewing the gutter above the glass structure. Because of the curvature of the structure and the risk of collision, a standard aerial work platform could not be used. The solution was to place a full scaffold around and over the glass structure, including counterweight for stability. In this way, the renovation work could be carried out safely and efficiently.

Finally, the natural slates were also replaced where necessary, giving the entire roof a renewed appearance. The renovation was completed successfully, within the set deadline with a sustainable and qualitative result.

For the renovation of 122 running meters of zinc gutters, Familiehulp Mechelen called on Tectum Group. This "average" job was made a tad more challenging by the presence of a large glass structure just below part of the zinc gutter.
