Flat roofs

A roof that can handle the future

As part of the Flemish PV obligation, Plastivan decided to completely renovate their existing company roof. After all, companies with an electricity purchase of more than 1 GWh per year are obliged to install solar panels by April 1, 2026. But for such an investment, a reliable roof structure is essential. That's why Plastivan called in our renovation specialists from Tectum Constructors.

The new steel deck will have vapor barrier, PIR insulation and Resitrix waterproofing.

Our approach in figures

The total roof area was 11,300 m². The project was tackled in two major parts:

  • 2,700 m² received a completely new roof structure. The existing roof structure was removed and replaced with a new steel deck, insulation and durable Resitrix waterproofing
  • 8,500 m² was smoothly overlaid with Resitrix, without the need to replace the existing substructure

Renewed skylight

In addition, 175 running meters of skylights were renewed, providing more natural light and better airtightness in the building.

Continuity guaranteed

One of the client's main requirements was that production should remain fully operational during the works. Thanks to tightly phased planning, appropriate safety measures and close consultation with the customer, we were able to achieve this, without compromising on quality.

Safety nets are stretched under the ceiling against falling debris and for the safety of our roofers.

Ready for solar energy

Although there are no specific legal requirements for the condition of the roof when installing solar panels, it is highly recommended to thoroughly check the roof structure and waterproofing before installation. A PV installation typically remains in place for 25 to 30 years. If repairs are needed later, this becomes much more complex and costly due to the presence of the panels. Plastivan therefore opted for a well thought-out renovation, so that the roof is completely ready for solar energy, both technically and practically.

Are you also considering a roof renovation in function of solar panels? Do not hesitate to contact us. Our specialists will be happy to think with you about a safe, sustainable and future-oriented solution for your company roof.
