The visitor center, located on the edge of the nature park, is completely integrated into the polder and landscape of the Zwin Nature Center. Construction started in spring 2014 and prioritized sustainability. Coussée & Goris Architects was responsible for coordinating the execution on site. The building boasts openness and panoramic views of the surrounding natural environment.
EPDM waterproofing was installed on the roof of the Nature Center. Because EPDM is 100% recyclable, it was an ideal choice for this sustainable project. The rainwater runoff from this membrane is uncontaminated and can be reused in various applications within the building. Moreover, EPDM roofing has a long lifespan of up to 50 years.
In the second semester of 2013, Tectum Group started work on the new Nature Park 'Het Zwin' in Knokke. Besides the replacement of cages, ponds, walkways and parking asphalt, the renovation of the provincial domain also included the construction of a brand new nature center. Tectum Group was contracted for the waterproofing of the roof.
