A total solution for the building envelope

Cooperation between our divisions has allowed us to ensure efficient execution and seamless coordination. "By having multiple services in our own hands, we can respond more flexibly to schedules and think along with the customer," says project manager Evert Van Campenhout. With a single point of contact for the entire roof completion, from waterproofing to finishing, our customers save time and avoid coordination problems between different subcontractors.

Overview of the works

  • Waterproofing: Tectum Dekkers was responsible for the bituminous waterproofing with root-resistant properties.
  • Water retention: Water retention crates of 8.5 cm height with constant water buffering of 6 cm.
  • Green roof: Semi-intensive roof garden with herbs, small plants and some shrubs.
  • Wooden terraces: Realization of several terraces in exotic hardwood (Cumaru) with a durable substructure. The terraces as well as the green roof with water retention was installed by Tectum Plus.
  • Maintenance: Tectum Roofcomfort provides periodic maintenance of the green roof, including weed removal, reseeding and watering via an automatic irrigation system.

Climate Roofs

In project Luxia, the main roof and terraces have been elaborated as fully-fledged climate roofs and climate terraces. The main roof fulfills multiple functions simultaneously: it is sustainably waterproofed, buffers rainwater via a water retention system and is finished with an extensive green roof that contributes to natural insulation, increased biodiversity and a reduction in the urban heat island effect. The terraces combine comfort and climate gain: they serve as a relaxation space for residents while contributing to water management and climate mitigation through the semi-intensive green roof. Luxia is an example of how multifunctional roofs really make a difference - for people, buildings and the environment.

The power of collaboration

This project illustrates how our multidisciplinary approach contributes to an efficient construction process. "Because different services are with one party, we can better anticipate challenges and switch faster," says Vitor Baeyens. In addition, this approach provides additional security for the client in terms of warranty and liability.
