Tectum Group renews skyline around De Brouckère Square
Written by

Around the De Brouckère Square in Brussels, Tectum Group has worked on several leading construction projects in recent years. From renovations on historical buildings to new construction with green roofs: quality, safety and cooperation with the contractors involved were central each time. The five roofs in this zone show how versatile our expertise is within the urban context of Brussels.

Tectum Group renews roofs of five buildings around De Brouckère Square

Hotel Métropole

An architectural monument with a rich history gets new life. Tectum Group is responsible for the renovation and restoration of the roofs of the legendary Hotel Métropole. In total it involves 3,000 m² of flat roofs, 1,000 m² of sloping roofs in zinc and 500 m² of sloping roofs in natural slate. We are also installing 1,300 m² of green roofs and, finally, providing a suitable solution for fall protection. The complete place, in other words. Read more about total approach on Everything under one roof.

The works, to be carried out in 2025 and 2026, combine authentic restoration techniques with contemporary waterproofing to preserve the historic character of the building and protect it for the future.

The former Anspach building, known for many years as the headquarters of bpost, will receive a thorough renovation and new use as a mixed-use project with offices, retail and hospitality.

Tectum Group was responsible for the renovation of the flat roofs, representing a total area of 24,350 m². For this purpose, 13,000 m² of BossCover EPDM and 11,350 m² of bituminous waterproofing were applied.
The works, carried out in 2024 and 2025, required precise planning and coordination within the busy Brussels city center.

Multi Tower Brussels

In 2021, Tectum Group carried out the renovation of 4,750 m² of flat roofs on the Multi Tower, one of the most recognizable buildings on De Brouckère Square.
The renewal of the bituminous waterproofing was done with particular attention to the complex roof structures and the integration of technical installations.

The new administrative headquarters of the City of Brussels is a new construction project that was built in 2021 and 2022 on the former site of Parking 58.

Tectum Group Group supplied and installed 8,000 m² of flat roofs and 320 m² of green roofs, contributing to the urban water management and ecological balance of the site. The project is a fine example of sustainable roof solutions within a contemporary architecture in the heart of Brussels.
