Komet phase 1 & 2

Flat roofs

Phase 1 included 128 residential units spread across six buildings. The offerings ranged from homes and apartments to assisted living and commercial spaces. This phase is now completely sold out and occupied except for one commercial space.

Phase 2 includes the construction of 120 apartments divided into six buildings, each with its own character, and one cohousing building that provides space for shared living and community building.

For these first two phases, Tectum Group took an important role:

  • 6500 m² of flat roof insulation and waterproofing, for lasting protection and energy efficiency
  • 6100 m² of waterproofing of the parking garage, a solid foundation for dry, safe and long-term usable underground spaces

With precision, craftsmanship and an eye for detail, we delivered a technical foundation on which this new neighborhood can grow. Thus we contribute to a future-oriented urban development that seamlessly combines quality, sustainability and livability.

In the heart of Mechelen, the former Comet site is being redeveloped into a vibrant new urban neighborhood: Komet. The 40,000 square meter site will bring together apartments, assisted living, single-family homes, cohousing and commercial spaces in a green and car-free environment. Good for a total of 301 housing units.
