Project

Leopoldswijk

Flat roofs

The Leopold Quarter in Brussels is home to a prominent collection of buildings that serve as the headquarters of European institutions. Tectum Group played Tectum Group crucial role in waterproofing the entire complex, consisting of nine buildings. This extensive task also included waterproofing the surrounding squares, under which the train runs. A total of approximately 100,000 m² of waterproofing was installed. Anecdote: As usual, gravel was used as ballast on one of the roofs. Until the Brussels crows used it as 'toys' to disrupt the meeting of the MEPs by dropping it several floors below onto the glass roof of the atrium. Afterwards, the 120 tons of gravel were vacuumed up and replaced with paving stones.
