Project

Delhaize Heverlee

Parking roofs
Flat roofs

The work was carried out in several precise steps. First, an adhesive primer was applied to the concrete deck to ensure optimal adhesion. This was followed by the first layer of PMMA (two-component), onto which reinforcement fabric was laid. This fabric was immediately saturated wet-on-wet with a second layer of PMMA, creating a completely sealed and crack-bridging membrane.

A PMMA system (liquid waterproofing) was chosen for the parking roof of Delhaize in Heverlee, a solution that is particularly suitable for complex details, intensive use, and a completely seamless finish. Because liquid waterproofing is applied directly to the concrete, a concrete base floor is necessary. This results in a heavier and generally slightly more expensive roof structure, but at the same time delivers an extremely stable and durable result. This roof was built 10 years ago and recently received a new colored top coat.

This was followed by the first layer of PMMA (two-component), onto which reinforcement fabric was laid. This fabric was immediately saturated wet-on-wet with a second layer of PMMA, creating a completely sealed and crack-bridging membrane.

To create sufficient grip and a uniform texture, quartz sand (0.8–0.12 mm) was sprinkled onto the still-wet waterproofing. Finally, the system was finished with a colored, two-component top coat, which provides the final protection, wear resistance, and aesthetics.

The result is a seamless, wear-resistant, and low-maintenance parking roof that is perfectly suited to the daily demands of a busy supermarket.
